Background to SEKA (continued)
To compliment the awareness performances, Seka also has expertise in the use of radio as an awareness raising tool; that covers issues in greater depth and to a wider audience.

SEKA’s distinctive use of action research & participatory drama sensitises communities on important social, cultural, environmental and economic issues and motivates communities to develop locally based initiatives that are sustainable. Key target groups are identified for special training on sensitive issues. Communities are further mobilised and empowered through the sharing of the action research findings to stakeholders. Seka ensures communities are able to take appropriate actions and encourages them to become effective change agents by disseminating information on government policies and procedures. Close collaboration with government officials and traditional leaders in the host countries ensure that Seka is successful in achieving their goals.

Areas of Expertise
Seka has extensive experience and expertise in environmental and social mobilisation campaigns. They have conducted programmes on Community Based Natural Resource Management, Human Wildlife Conflict, Land Use Planning and Management, Anti Poaching, Child Labour, Education and the fundamental and cross cutting issue of HIV/AIDS is tackled in all programmes.

In addition to grassroots work, Seka has experience in taking the voice of rural communities to policy makers, at both the national and international level. To mobilise a wide array of stakeholders, Seka has performed numerous tailor made plays (with grassroots input) to international environmental conferences.
