The thing that makes ASAP- Aids support
Awareness Project so special in that we have practically no
overheads. In this digital age we can do what we need via the
internet with the occasional visits, usually once a year. Connecting
and networking people sometimes is all that it takes to get
something achieved, requiring no money at all. We have no foreign
offices or expatiate employees on inflated salaries.
We believe that the money we get should go exactly where it is
needed. We rely on the generosity and kindness of others in skills
and service donation both here in the Uk and Zambia. Up to now our
field workers are voluntary their desire to help their fellow people
far greater than monetary gain. However a laptop and access to the
Internet is a good incentive! It is with this philosophy that we
continue to grow and expand accordingly, as and when possible.
Given the basis of our organisation our budget is extremely
flexible, for example:-
£800 will put 5 people through a counselling course allowing them to
be field operatives, £1600 will train 10.
20 US$ allows one person to have Internet into their home per month.
100US$ allows us to set it up for them and get them a phone line.
We have come so far on donations of £10,000
We have recently received another donation of £3000 from the
Ashworth Charitable Trust and where short listed for the Barclays
Chairman’s 2007 awards from over 180 applications from around the
world, for this we received £500.
All and everything helps us, no matter how small or how large, we
can use it to achieve something after all... Anything is better than
nothing.
